How Klyr analyzes Mac storage
Klyr walks the folder or volume you choose and builds a size tree. Regular files contribute their allocated size—the storage blocks attributed to the file—rather than relying only on a filename or Finder estimate. Deep branches are collapsed into totals so the interface can stay useful on large trees.
Why Klyr and macOS can show different totals
A directory scan is not the same measurement as APFS container accounting. macOS may include or separately report purgeable data, local snapshots, shared blocks, clones, sealed system volumes, cloud placeholders, and mounted volumes. Adding every visible category can double-count space.
Klyr therefore separates the readable namespace map from volume-level capacity and purgeable-space information. An inaccessible directory is not silently treated as zero bytes.
What Full Disk Access changes
Full Disk Access can allow Klyr Pro to read more privacy-protected locations after you grant permission in System Settings. It does not disable System Integrity Protection, unlock encrypted data, download cloud-only files, or grant access to another user’s protected data.
macOS provides no general API that simply says an app has complete Full Disk Access. Klyr evaluates the actual scan: if reads fail, it reports the result as partial or access-limited. Read the detailed Mac System Data explanation.
From storage map to a deliberate decision
A large file is not automatically unnecessary. Klyr shows where an item lives and why it appeared, then leaves the decision to you. The normal action sends an explicitly selected item to macOS Trash after safety checks; Klyr never auto-selects the contents of a storage map for removal.
Product boundary: Klyr is a storage-management utility, not antivirus, hardware repair, remote technical support, or a promise to speed up a Mac.

What does a Mac storage analyzer do?
It measures readable files and folders, groups their sizes, and visualizes where capacity is being used. A trustworthy analyzer also identifies what it could not measure.
Why is “System Data” difficult to measure?
It is a macOS accounting category, not one ordinary folder. It can include caches, logs, snapshots, virtual-memory files, application support data, and storage the operating system can reclaim.
Does Klyr automatically remove large files?
No. Klyr presents findings. You select every item that moves to Trash.
